Case study: Aella Credit & Videoloft
Aella Credit is a Nigerian fintech company based in Nigeria, California and the Philippines. Aella provide an array of financial products to households and businesses in West Africa, including loans, investments, insurance and payments.

Although Aella is primarily an online business, Nigerian banking regulations state they must have a physical branch for card issuing. To obtain and maintain a Nigerian banking license, Aella must retain CCTV footage of the card issuing process for at least 90 days.
Wale Akanbi, CTO of Aella Credit, wanted a cloud video surveillance solution to ensure they could store video evidence for long periods and avoid the risk of on-premise recorder theft or destruction. After assessing multiple VSaaS providers, Aella chose Videoloft for their 31 Hikvision cameras. All recorded video is stored in the cloud for 1 year, so Aella can go over-and-above the regulatory requirement.
In addition to the long-term offsite storage capabilities, there are many other benefits of installing Videoloft’s cloud-based platform. Any number of Aella employees can access their video via the Videoloft mobile apps or web-browser and receive push notifications or email alerts when motion is detected on critical cameras.
“Installing Videoloft has given us peace of mind that we’re meeting our regulatory requirements and our video evidence is securely stored,” explains Wale Akanbi. “It’s also put our security system in the palm of our hards and given people across the business a way of seeing what’s happening in-branch.”
Aella have big plans for expansion and expect to be using Videoloft across several branches in other African countries within the next 12 months.
