How Dyna-mo Instruments uses Videoloft to monitor remote, off-grid infrastructure with mobile-enabled cloud video surveillance

The requirement

Dyna-mo Instruments, a specialist in structural, geotechnical and environmental monitoring, needed a robust and mobile video surveillance solution for monitoring off-grid and infrastructure-critical sites. These included high-risk environments such as:

Rail and road tunnels and bridges, where structural integrity is in question or structural movement needed close observation.
Road bridges, experiencing overweight or oversized vehicles, or where impact detection and vehicle identification is required.
Retaining walls, that are presenting cracks and movement in remote and difficult to access locations.
Construction site monitoring, where time-lapse project capture, event detection and remote LIVE video feed access is required.

With no access to wired internet in many of these locations, Dyna-mo required a system that was compact, weatherproof, and operable over mobile networks, without compromising on reliability or video quality.

The solution

Dyna-mo Instruments integrated the Videoloft Cloud Adapter into their bespoke Dyna-Mo Vision system, a hub housed in a 400 x 300 x 150mm IP66-rated enclosure. This unit is both wall- and pole-mountable, making it ideal for challenging outdoor environments.

For indoor installations like site cabins and offices, Dyna-mo now offers the Vision Compact system, a smaller 240 x 160 x 90mm version that still includes the full Videoloft integration.

Videoloft’s Cloud Adapter is a perfect match for these setups:

Operates over 4G/5G networks, eliminating the need for fixed-line internet.
Includes onboard storage, so footage is securely buffered in the event of a network outage.
Seamlessly integrates Videoloft AI analytics, such as:
- License Plate Recognition (LPR) for identifying overweight vehicles on restricted bridges.
- PPE Detection to ensure workers are wearing the correct safety equipment, turning it into a powerful construction site monitoring tool.

Dyna-mo Instruments has seen adoption of the Vision system by some of the largest survey, monitoring and construction companies in the UK and have multiple active systems in the field, with several additional deployments planned in the coming months.
