Newvision cloud case study Videoloft

Case study: Newvision & Videoloft

Newvision Security Solutions is a security company based in Nottinghamshire, UK. They offer wireless, portable and rapidly deployed security systems to construction sites, vacant lots, fly tipping sites and car parks. They have a wide variety of customers, from new housing developers Bellway Homes and Lovell who require security at their construction sites, to a Heathrow Airport terminal car park which needs 24/7 monitoring to deter fly tippers and vandals.

Since Newvision’s CCTV installations are often temporary and in locations without wired power and internet, they face a unique challenge. Their surveillance systems need to be compact, portable from site to site and able to function off-grid. Continue reading this case study to learn how Newvision, with the help of Videoloft, overcame this problem.

The systems are powered by solar panels which charge lithium ion batteries and network connection is provided by 4G routers. To keep the system compact, Newvision use a Videoloft Cloud Adapter to eliminate the need for an onsite recorder. All video is securely stored in the cloud and easily accessible to both Newvision and their customers.

Monthly leasing of Newvision security solution

Newvision leases the system to their customers on a monthly contract which covers the cost of the hardware, cloud platform and out-of-hours monitoring. Their customers have read-only access to their security systems via the Newvision-branded version of Videoloft’s CCTV Connect mobile app. “Our customers love to be able to access their video easily themselves,” explains Shane Robinson, Co-Founder & MD of Newvision Security Solutions. “They use it for so much more than just security. Our construction site managers can verify their workers’ timesheets and ensure vital health and safety measures are being implemented.”

A fundamental element of Newvision’s success is the ability to offer a reliable solution despite often not having access to reliable wired internet connection. If the internet connection is temporarily lost, video is still recorded and saved to the Videoloft Cloud Adapter. When the connection restores it automatically send the video to the Videoloft cloud.

The Videoloft cloud platform also allows them to provide additional features to their customer base, such as the Timelapse feature. Videoloft software can take a still image for every recorded motion event. These still images are then pulled together to form a Timelapse video. This is a key selling point for construction companies wanting to showcase the progression of sites to their end customers.

While features like Timelapse are great additions, what’s most important is the security of Newvision’s customer sites. Newvision monitors all of their customer sites out of business hours. Whenever a trespasser is spotted on site the police are immediately called, resulting in many arrests and the prevention of dangerous behaviour on vacant lots and construction sites.
