Covid-19 & remote installation
When Covid-19 hit the world in 2020, Remote Ally had limited sources of new sales. Their primary customer base; restaurants (bars and QSR brands) and property management, lay vacant due to the lockdown measures caused by Covid-19.
In order to help minimize opportunities for transmission of the virus, Remote Ally strived to structure their business so they could sell security solutions (to commercial properties) that could be installed with minimal impact to the site and could be managed remotely.
With the help of Videoloft they created a compact, proactive security solution that overcame these challenges - a plug and play Virtual Guard Post (VGP).
The VGP box contains all of the necessary elements required for a standalone, remotely monitored security solution - a Videoloft Cloud Adapter, a Verizon 4G hub, a web POE switch, and battery back up. Attached to the box is a flood light, an IP speaker and 2 cameras which are motion-triggered out of hours by a relay.
The customer has remote access to the camera live feeds and cloud recorded video via Videoloft’s CCTV Connect app (which takes on the full Remote Ally brand when their customers are logged in). In addition to this, the whole system is connected to a monitoring station who use the IP speaker to deter trespassers. If the monitoring station isn't sure if a situation is legitimate activity or not, they call the site owner who looks straight at the camera live feed in the CCTV Connect app to verify the situation.
Remote Ally have received nothing but positive feedback from the customers who have this VGP solution deployed. “ Our customers are incredibly happy,” said Eddie Conlon, Owner of Remote Ally. “They previously didn’t have access to video footage and now they can watch it from anywhere via the mobile app.” Despite doing no outbound marketing of the system, Remote Ally have continued to have regular inbound inquiries due to positive word of mouth feedback from existing customers.
