As many other security professionals would understand, Alertwatch operate in a competitive market. For this reason they wanted a new way to bring customers into their business. Their local residential and small business customers are also incredibly price sensitive, they want a low installation fee and an affordable monthly payment.
In addition to responding to their regular inbound enquiries, Alertwatch decided to proactively sell their solutions in order to compete. So they hired a sales team who went door-to-door to residential and small business customers. To lower the cost of the installation, Alertwatch decided to only charge for the labor. They then leased the hardware to the customer and tied them into a 3 year monthly payment plan contract. To reduce the cost of the hardware and simplify the installation, Alertwatch used a Videoloft Cloud Adapter. This eliminated the local recorder and also enabled recording video directly to the cloud. Signing their customers up to a 3-year contract gives Alertwatch a long term recurring revenue stream which is vital for the growth and longevity of the business.
By combining a monthly leasing business model, recorder-free installations and a proactive sales approach, Alertwatch have grown their customer base and also added RMR into their business. “Videoloft is absolutely brilliant, it just works.” Aleksander Gaaseby, Security Engineer at Alertwatch said. ”Despite Covid-19 and the corresponding lockdown, we’ve managed to get 20 new customers into 3-year long contracts in just a couple of months.”
