How Lacem Technologies partnered with Videoloft to deliver cloud video surveillance for GA Insurance
The requirement
Lacem Technologies, a leading security partner in Kenya, was approached by their client GA Insurance, one of East Africa’s largest insurers. GA Insurance had an established on-premises CCTV infrastructure, with a wide network of cameras deployed across multiple sites and supported by dedicated NVR systems.
GA Insurance wanted to:
- Strengthen system resilience with secure off-site cloud backup.
- Gain centralized, remote access to their surveillance footage.
- Scale seamlessly as they expanded coverage to additional branches, potentially up to 120 cameras.
Lacem needed a solution that would modernize GA Insurance’s surveillance system without replacing their existing investment in hardware.
The solution
To meet GA Insurance’s needs, Lacem partnered with Videoloft and deployed the Videoloft Cloud Adapter Enterprise. This enabled GA Insurance to connect their existing NVR-based cameras directly to the cloud, avoiding costly hardware replacements.
A Pilot was launched at GA’s Nairobi headquarters in January 2025, with 46 cameras connected to Videoloft’s cloud. One of GA’s biggest initial concerns was whether uploading video footage would overwhelm their available bandwidth. However, during the trial, Videoloft proved to be bandwidth-efficient, showing that their existing connection could comfortably support cloud uploads without disruption. This reassurance was a major factor in GA’s decision to move forward.
Videoloft’s solution gave Lacem the ability to deliver:
- Secure, scalable cloud storage with flexible retention options.
- Remote access for GA’s management and security teams via mobile and web apps.
The result
The Pilot proved successful, giving GA Insurance confidence in both the technology and its compatibility with their infrastructure. Lacem, through its partnership with Videoloft, helped GA integrate 46 cameras into the Videoloft cloud, with plans to scale to all 80+ cameras across multiple sites.
