How Transafrica Motors uses Videoloft to prevent loss of video evidence
The requirement
Transafrica Motors Limited is a leading automotive distributor in Kenya and the East Africa region. Over the years, Transafrica Motors has grown from a single branch in Nairobi to a network of five branches strategically located across major cities, including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Eldoret.
In 2024, the company faced a serious security challenge. A theft occurred at one branch, and the recorder containing the surveillance footage was also stolen. This left the management team without crucial video evidence.
Transafrica Motors needed a reliable surveillance solution that would:
- Protect critical footage, even in cases where on-site equipment was stolen or damaged.
- Provide centralized access to video from multiple branches for management oversight.
- Be cost-effective and scalable, supporting a small number of cameras at each site.
The solution
In January 2025, Transafrica Motors began with a proof of concept (POC) to test Videoloft’s cloud-based system. After a successful trial, they rolled it out to their network.
The current setup includes 20 Hikvision cameras, with two to five cameras per branch across up to six locations. Videoloft’s solution provided:
- Cloud storage to keep footage safe and accessible even if recorders are stolen.
- Centralized video management for security teams.
- Simple integration with their existing cameras, avoiding costly upgrades.
