The requirement
Watu Credit Uganda Ltd is a micro-lending company dedicated to improving financial inclusion and economic opportunities. They provide pay-as-you-go financing for productive assets such as motorcycles; ICE and EV motorcycles and smartphones.
With a growing network of branches across Uganda, Watu needed a reliable, scalable video surveillance solution. Their primary goal was to centralize access to footage from multiple locations and ensure system resilience to maintain uninterrupted security operations. With 676 Hikvision cameras across their network, it was essential to have a platform that could securely manage and store video data from various sites.
The solution
Watu Credit Uganda began with a proof of concept (POC) at three of their branches in July 2024. After a successful trial, they expanded Videoloft’s cloud-based video management solution to 23 of their largest branches.
Videoloft provided a robust cloud solution that allowed Watu to:
- Centralize video access for management and security teams, simplifying oversight across multiple locations.
- Ensure system resilience with secure cloud backups, preventing data loss due to hardware failures or local storage issues.
- Seamlessly integrate their existing Hikvision cameras without costly hardware upgrades.
The result
By adopting Videoloft, Watu Credit Uganda streamlined security operations across its branch network. The company now has 676 cameras connected to the Videoloft platform, providing reliable, secure, and centralized video management.
This cloud-based approach has strengthened Watu’s security posture by:
