Case study: Mercer Alarm Systems & Videoloft
Mercer Alarm Systems are based in Hamilton, New Jersey, USA and have been serving their local domestic and commercial customers for 38 years. Their primary focus is alarm systems but they are increasingly asked to install video surveillance. They discovered Videoloft in 2018 and haven’t installed a recorder since – they’ve moved all video storage to the cloud!

Mercer Alarm Systems were recently contacted by their local town council. They wanted a quick and simple video surveillance system for 3 ballot box locations for the November 2020 Presidential Election. Many states are requiring that ballot boxes are under video surveillance. These specific ballot boxes will be located in areas that don’t already have surveillance, and are not easily connected to wired internet.
With the help of Videoloft, Mercer Alarm Systems have quickly installed 3 temporary surveillance systems which meet all of the town’s needs. The set up is simple - each system has a camera, a Videoloft Cloud Adapter, and a wireless bridge.
If for some reason the internet connection suffers, the Videoloft Cloud Adapter will store the video to the edge and then upload it as soon as the internet connection is restored. This is a feature which Paul Midura, President & CEO of Mercer Alarm Systems, tested thoroughly before deploying Videoloft software to his customers. “I wanted to be 100% confident in the product myself before giving it to my clients. I set up a Videoloft system at home to stress test without internet connection and was very happy with the results.” explained Paul.
Customers can cancel their subscription to Videoloft’s cloud storage whenever they like, they aren’t tied into lengthy contracts. This is perfect for temporary surveillance systems that only want to record and store video for short periods of time. Videoloft’s standard cloud plans record when motion is detected, but they also offer competitively priced continuous recording plans for scenarios when 24/7 recording is necessary.
An all-in-one solution for remote locations - well suited for Presidential Election ballot box surveillance:
- Quick and simple to deploy
- Low cost, no recorder to buy
- Secure offsite storage of video
